Drunk Driver takes NPD on Pursuit with a Flat Tire and Child in the Vehicle

Just after 7 PM on Friday, January 18th, 2024, an NPD unit attempted to stop a grey Kia Soul heading east on Bullsboro Dr at Torero Tr. 

When the vehicle failed to stop, the NPD unit informed dispatch the reason for the stop was the vehicle had come close to hitting him several times and was all over the roadway with a flat tire.

The vehicle, driven by Ashanti Ambrasia Tomblin, 26, of Newnan, continued to refuse to stop. Instead, it continued east down Bullsboro leading an increasing number of NPD units on a pursuit at 20 MPH. When Tomblin turns south onto the bypass before turning left beside Ashley Furniture then taking another left on the access road in front of JC Penny and continuing north before being brought to a stop at the stop sign between Old Navy and Office Depot.

Inside the vehicle was a small child who according to the charges against Tomblin wasn’t properly secured in a child seat.

Tomblin was taken into custody and after a DUI investigation was booked into the Coweta County Jail on the following charges, all misdemeanors:

MARIJUANA-POSSESS LESS THAN 1 OZ.
FLEEING/ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE POLICE OFFICER
DUI – DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL
ENDANGERING A CHILD BY DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOH
FAILURE TO YIELD TO VEHICLE ENTERING ROADWAY
FAILURE TO MAINTAIN LANE
RECKLESS DRIVING
CHILD RESTRAINT VIOLATION

Tomblin was held on $4400 combined bond for her charges. Records show that Tomblin was released on Jan 19th, 2024 at 4:57 PM.
