COWETA COUNTY – Booking records provided by the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office show that 10 bookings during the 2024 Cinco de Mayo weekend included DUI-related charges. This is up from 7 DUI-related bookings during the 2024 St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
According to a report published by the American Addiction Centers, Cinco de Mayo is tied with Halloween as the 5th most “booziest” holiday of the year with the average American consuming 3.5 drinks on that day. For comparison, during the 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Weekend, which ranks 3rd ( 4.2 drinks ) in the same report, Coweta County saw 7 DUI-related bookings.
As of May 5th, 2024, there have been 253 bookings with DUI-related charges thus far in 2024, with 14 of those being in May 2024.
